NAHO Conference Banquet Agenda & Menu

The 2009 NAHO national conference banquet promises to be an entertaining evening filled with traditional First Nations, Inuit and Métis performances, and plenty of star-power.

Beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 25, 2009, Chef David Wolfman, star of the APTN TV show Cooking with the Wolfman, will heat things up by giving audience members an up-close-and-personal demonstration of what it’s like to be in the kitchen with the Wolfman. He will provide a 45 minute cooking demonstration followed by a brief question and answer period with the audience.
The Banquet dinner will follow, and will be a re-creation of the meal Chef Wolfman prepared.

Mixed zuni style bean and legumes, marinated with a chipotle and lime vinaigrette

Rabbit stew served with ginger risotto

Chocolate glazed pumpkin torte with vanilla crème Anglaise

During dinner, guests will be treated to Traditional First Nations, Inuit and Métis performances by current and former NAHO National Aboriginal Role Models. There will be jingle-dress dancing, Métis fiddling and Inuit Throat-singing.

The evening will conclude with a live performance by world renowned Inuit singer and songwriter Lucie Idlout. Lucie’s music can take you on an emotional journey through life drawing on themes that are common to us all; heartbreak, loss, tenderness and occasionally a little rage. In 2007, she was chosen as one of fifty Canadian artists to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Canada Council for the Arts, performing at the Governor General's Gala. She has toured extensively through Canada, Europe and the United States earning rave reviews wherever she travels.
